It was resolved in the Annual General Body meeting at Chandigarh (2008) and Bangalore (2009) not to enroll any non-dermatologists, without any degree or diploma in the subject of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology as member of IADVL. Membership will be given strictly on basisi of the criteria decided in the AGBMs and published in the IADVL News (April 2008 and April 2009)
Only Medical Practitioners with qualification in Allopathic (Modern) Medicine under the Indian Medical Degrees act, 1916 Clause 2 Act VII and registrable with any of the State Medical Councils of India and possessing a Post-Graduate qualification in Dermatology, Venereology and / or Leprology will be elligible. They are required to pay their fees annually. Ordinary membership fees shall be paid in advance by the end of December for the following year.
Only postgraduate students undergoing training in Dermatology, Venereology and / or Leprology will be admitted as Provisional Life members. They will have to send a letter from the Head of their Department stating their date of joining and date of completing the course withthe form. Such members will neither have any voting rights nor they will be eligible to stand for any executive post at state or national level. Postgraduate students after passing their degree / diploma are eligible to become life members.
The eligibility criteria for becoming a life member of the Association shall be a postgraduate qualification in the specialty (i.e. a diploma or a degree in Dermatology or Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy) from a medical college affiliated to and awarded by an Indian University or an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or an equivalent organization of the Government of India; or a Diploma in Dermatology or Dermatology and Venereology of the National Board of Medical Examinations, New Delhi. Others with foreign degrees or diplomas or equivalent qualifications should have their qualifications recognized by the MCI or an equivalent organization of the Government of India to become eligible.
Only post graduate students undergoing training in MCI recognized medical colleges/ postgraduate courses of this specialty or those pursuing DNB in Dermato- Venereology/DVL are eligible for this category. They will present to the State General Secretary a letter from the head of the specialty department where they are studying, stating the date of their joining the postgraduate course and the date of its due completion, along with the application for membership. They have to send their qualification certificate within 5 years of their registration for the postgraduate course to the Honorary General Secretary (National) in order to become permanent life members. In case they fail to do so, in the defined period, they will have to register once again as a Life member after following the due procedure through the state branch.
Associate Life Membership can be awarded to doctors & other specialists working in the field of dermatology, venereology and leprology (e.g. dermatopathologists, academicians, researchers and genetiscientists). They will not have any voting rights and cannot hold any IADVL post.
A application has to be sent to the Honorary General Secretary (National) along with a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from branch secretary.
PLM have to send their qualification certificate within 5 years of their registration for the postgraduate course to the Honorary General Secretary (National) in order to become permanent life members. In case they fail to do so, in the defined period, they will have to register once again as a Life member after following the due procedure through the state branch.

All membership fee shall be nonrefundable and nontransferable.
The rate of subscription shall automatically increase at the rate of ten per cent every two years for a period of ten years, after which the format for increase in membership fees is to be reconsidered again. The treasurer shall inform the Branches well in advance about the increased rate.
After 31st March only Life Membership/ Provisional Life Membership contribution / subscription shall be accepted.
*One must join a State Branch of IADVL when one exists or a neighbouring State Branch. If none of these exist, one can become a Direct (Central) Member.
